Chocolate Orange Nut Bars


  • 1 mini box of organic sultanas or raisons
  • 50 grams of ground raw nuts of your choice (I used Brazil nuts)
  • OR an equivalent amount of nut butter
  • 1 tsp of raw cacao
  • Few drops of orange essence
  • 3-4 dates


Finely chop (or blend) the sultanas, dates or raisons. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and combine well with your hands.

Place into a flat dish such as a rectangular Pyrex dish, and press down firmly. You can place baking paper over the mixture before doing this if you choose.

Set in the fridge for a couple of hours, and then slice into bars. Can be stored for several weeks, but I like to make them fresh which is why the ingredients list is fairly small quantities.

Did you know?

Most nuts are healthiest raw, but cashews and almonds are actually best roasted. This is because they contain phytates, which are anti-nutrients. Roasting them rids the nuts of phytates, and can easily be done at home in a moderate oven for about 20 minutes.
