Are You Suffering From Dream Fatigue?

Do you ever get the feeling that it’s all just a bit much? Trying to be this incredible woman who can tick the list of physical accomplishments, career success, relationship milestones, emotional balance, mental sharpness, and perhaps even maintain some semblence of a social life? I know that even though most of the time I’m raring to go and excited about the massive myriad list of things I’m working on I have occasions when I truly just do not give a flying … well. You get the idea.

So how about you? Do you ever suffer from dream fatigue? Otherwise known as busy/driven woman about to have a(nother) little breakdown?

I know I can’t be the only one out there trying to be, do and have it all at the occasional expense of my mental health!

let’s get our act together ladies!

So. I do have a bit of a solution.

First: You need to accept the fact that you will DIE and your to do list will still be incomplete. I know I’ve said this before, but seriously – you need to get your head around this. When you do, you will feel a sudden surge of freedom at the realisation that sometimes it’s okay to not do everything. Since you won’t get to anyway.

Next: You need to make 100% sure that the stuff you are investing significant time, mental or emotional effort, or money on, is the stuff that really counts. I mean it really freaking counts. Stop kidding yourself that being so busy now is going to mean you can relax down the track, or spend more time with your family down the track. Life is now. You better make sure it’s the one you want, surely at least 80% of the time. I don’t have to tell you (do I?) that when you keep waiting until the time you’re ready to live/relax/travel/whatever, you just never quite get there.

Finally: Stop, and reflect. There’s nothing worse than living every second of your life in reaction to how busy you are. It makes you feel out of control, and ultimately exhausted and dis-satisfied. It’s so easy to get caught up in being too busy to think about your really big important dreams and goals, or even to take 5 minutes to plan your day and get the most out of the time you have (plus maybe leave a little to spare!). But really – do you want to be that person? Or should I say – how much longer are you prepared to be that person? The one who is constantly rushing from one thing to the next and proudly answers with a sigh ‘busy!’ whenever she is asked how she is, or how her weekend was? Boring! For others, and for you.

tune in for my success formula…

Next time you hear from me I want to talk to you about how you can make sure you do achieve your top 3 goals this year – and still have a life. It’s a formula I’ve used for years, and it’s allowed me to tick off some pretty major accomplishments while still managing to build my career and become (then be) a good Mum.

For now though, over to you – do you think you could be suffering a little bit of stress or fatigue from trying to have it all? And, importantly, what do you intend to do about it?! Comment below!
