Podcast Episode 12: How to Find And Sell Your Magic
The first time you make money online it’s the biggest rush in the world. Suddenly, everything you dreamed COULD be possible has become REALITY, and you realise –
Fuck me. This stuff might really work.
And it’s equally THRILLING as well as terrifying, because now that you’ve cracked that first dollar your mind is filling with all of the new ideas! And new programs! Oh the launches you could do! Oh the brand you could build! Oh the places you could see!
The terrifying part, of course, is that you KINDA hoped that once the money started coming in it would just, y’know – KEEP coming in. But now you’ve realised that if you want to keep this baby rollin’? YOU are going to have to keep pushing it.
(Or at least that’s how it seems).
So you DO. You hustle and you promote and you launch and you roll stuff out and you build UP that client base of yours as you also get your name out there and fight to stand out from the inevitably crowded marketplace that is your industry.
And it IS exciting, to watch this business of yours grow, to realise that it’s actually true – whatever you set your mind to and believe as possible really DOES happen.
But gosh –
Does it have to be SO exhausting?
Does it have to be a CONSTANT hustle?
Does it have to feel like every dollar is not only hard fought for but that you’re actually shedding blood, sweat and tears with just about every step you make and every breath you make?
And why is your income climbing so SLOWLY?!
When are you going to hit the REALLY big time and actually have some left over for you after all that you pour back into your business?
It would be nice to actually be able to pay yourself a salary in return for all your hard work!
And (just quietly of course) you’re not so sure you love your clients as much as you once did anyway. I mean SURE – you love knowing you’re helping people and you even enjoy the process but it’s VERY demanding.
And at some point it hits you –
This business you’ve created is actually more of a job.
Because if YOU stepped out of it right now? Well you can bet your ass the money would step on down as well.
Which kinda blows because one of the reasons you got into this whole online thing was to create some kind of PASSIVE income!
And while you’re certainly grateful for the lifestyle freedom you have in comparison to most, and for every new client you receive, you also don’t want to HAVE to believe that the only way to keep growing your income is to keep taking on MORE work and doing MORE of what you’re doing right now.
If that’s what it takes then you’re not ENTIRELY sure you’d rather not just go work in a bookstore and be done with the whole thing!
Can I tell you something that’s possibly a little smack-you-in-the-face-obvious?
If you do not fully LOVE everything about how your business runs now then stop freaking well trying to scale it with more of the same.
You CAN double (triple, quadruple, your call) your income this year by working LESS and you can do it by doing ONLY what you love.
But only if you’re willing to stop selling your time and instead create a BRAND that sells based on VALUE.
I’m talking, of course, about brand you.
When you are known for being YOU not for what you DO, people will PAY you accordingly.
A quick hint on income: people pay a little bit of money to learn what you do, and people pay a LOT of money to learn how to BE like you.
Also: if you want that recurring and mostly passive income you talk about, you’re going to have to build a brand around being you, and stand out as the creator of a MOVEMENT not just a product.
